----- Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Therapist
Elisabeth Hargrove LCSW, MPH, is a licensed clinical social worker who is warm, open and collaborative. She uses a strengths-based approach to counseling both in-office and online. Elisabeth specializes in treating adolescents and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, trauma and general life stressors.
Elisabeth holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a Master’s Degree in Public Health from The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She worked for many years in community-based public health settings, providing counseling and case management to a diverse range of clients, prior to entering private practice.
Elisabeth’s passion is helping clients find their inner strength and resiliency. She uses short-term solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and cognitive-behavioral therapy to support and encourage growth and self-compassion. Elisabeth believes that life is worth living and that each of us has inherent worth and dignity. She finds it a privilege to help clients uncover their own strength and optimism about life.
A note from Elisabeth:
I decided to become a therapist because I like connecting with people, and I care deeply for others. I am motivated to help you access your inner strength and wisdom when faced with difficulties in life. My approach to therapy is warm and non-judgmental. Life is hard. It can help to have a safe place to bring feelings of stress however they manifest: anxiety, depression, disordered eating or chronic health conditions. I am keenly aware of the relationship between mental and physical health.
In my spare time I love to be with my friends and family, watch movies and documentaries, take in art and music in many forms and walk for exercise. I have recently moved to Chicago from North Carolina, and I look forward to exploring The Windy City as I settle in to my new home.
While her office is located in downtown Chicago next to Millenium park for in-person sessions, she also welcomes and serves clients for online therapy from anywhere in Illinois. Clients from the Chicagoland area may choose in-office or online therapy.
